Developing EQ to Improve Interactions

While personality traits tend to be "hard wired" and are not largely changeable in people, there is another dimension governing human behavior that can be influenced. Many studies evaluate it as more important than intellectual intelligence in governing success in one's career. It is called Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Basically, emotionally intelligent people learn to be aware of their own emotional states that may be influencing personal perception and behavior. Such high EQ people can sense the emotional states in others and learn how to control and influence them to improve the quality of various human interactions. Unlike personality traits, EQ skills can be learned, practiced and developed.

Prior to the session, participants will take an on-line emotional intelligence survey and receive their own EQ profile measuring four dimensions of emotional intelligence.

Who Should Attend

Professionals seeking to understand their own emotional intelligence level and develop skills to increase it for the betterment of various forms of human interaction.

Participants will learn:

  • What emotional intelligence is and how it is measured
  • Your own EQ scores and what they mean
  • The physiological response between one's emotional state and one's cognitive processes that govern judgment, reason and decision making
  • Ways you can become more emotionally intelligent and the consequences of behaving in ways that are insensitive to emotional undercurrents in situations
  • Case situations that help you test what was learned
